The Silence of Souls

Each year the Passion, Death and Resurrection of the Christ is relived by the citizens of Mataró to the sound of a shrill bell keeping the rhythm of the paces being carried along the streets of the city. The suffering and the passion are evoked every Easter in Iluro, the ancient Roman town in Mataró. A chilling silence sweeps the crowd as the funeral drums resound down the alleys.

Una campanada estridente marca el compás de los pasos que son portados por las calles, para que la ciudadanía de Mataró pueda revivir la Pasión, Muerte y Resurrección de Cristo. El sentimiento y sufrimiento es evocado cada Semana Santa en Iluro, la antigua ciudad romana de Mataró. Un silencio colectivo estremecedor palpita en la multitud, al son de los hondos tambores fúnebres.
