Jornaleras sirias, niñas y mujeres, refugiadas en el Valle de la Bekaa

Líbano es el país que más refugiados sirios acoge del mundo. Su población ha aumentado un 25% desde 2011 a causa de la guerra en Siria. En el Valle de la Bekaa el trabajo de los temporeros ha sido sustituido por el de niñas y mujeres refugiadas, huídas de la guerra, que trabajan en condiciones de explotación. Son reclutadas por el Shawish, el responsable del campamento en el que viven, que gestiona su trabajo para agricultores y terratenientes libaneses.

“Aamelat souriyat” es un proyecto documental realizado en colaboración con la ONGD catalana ALKARIA, a través de una Beca DevReporter, impulsada por la Unión Europea dentro del marco «Frame, Voice, Report!», con el apoyo de la Fede y el Ayuntamiento de Barcelona.

La realización de este reportaje ha promovido la creación de un proyecto social en 2021 por parte de Katrin Hermanek, estudiante de Master en Migraciones en la Universidad Americana de Beirut, enfocado en uno de los campamentos donde se ha desarrollado el reportaje, para cubrir las necesidades alimenticias de 80 familias sirias afectadas por las estrecheces de la dura crisis en el Líbano.

Syrian day laborers, girls and women, refugees in the Bekaa Valley

Lebanon is the country that hosts the most Syrian refugees in the world. Its population has increased by 25% since 2011 because of the war in Syria. In the Bekaa Valley, the work of seasonal workers has been replaced by that of refugee girls and women, fleeing the war, who work in conditions of exploitation. They are recruited by the Shawish, the head of the camp where they live, who manages their work for Lebanese farmers and landowners.

“Aamelat souriyat” is a documentary project carried out in collaboration with the Catalan NGO ALKARIA, through a DevReporter Scholarship, promoted by the European Union within the framework of «Frame, Voice, Report!», with the support of the Fede and the City Council of Barcelona.

The production of this reportage has promoted the creation of a social project in 2021 managed by Katrin Hermanek, a student in Migrations Master at the Lebanese American University in Beirut, focused on one of the camps where the report has developed, to cover the food needs of 80 families suffering from the hardhips of the crisis in Lebanon.
